WARRENVILLE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

CODE OF CONDUCT

To assure that the participation in the Warrenville Athletic Association is a constructive and positive experience and to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment, the WAA has adopted the following Code of Conduct. All players’ parents/guardians, on behalf of themselves and the player, and all volunteers are required to sign this Code of Conduct. The parent or guardian of a player must sign the Code of Conduct before the player is allowed to participate in a WAA game. By signing the Code of Conduct the parent/guardian and player or volunteer has certified that they have read the Code of Conduct and will abide by them during the course of the baseball season.

    1. I will not display anger at an opponent, teammate, coach or umpire.
    2. I will not use abusive language, swear or participate in negative cheering.
    3. I will not throw or abuse any equipment out of anger or frustration.
    4. I will wear the proper uniform and equipment and will wear it in the proper manner.
    5. I will never intentionally endanger or attempt to injure another player, teammate, coach, umpire or spectator.
    6. I will not bring a weapon of any type to a WAA sponsored activity or threaten any person in any manner.
    7. I will not inappropriately touch another person or make inappropriate statements or comments.
    8. I will not attend any WAA sponsored event under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicant nor will I bring alcohol or any illegal substance to a WAA sponsored event.
    9. I will not participate in any illegal activity while at a WAA sponsored event.
    10. I will not participate in any activity that is detrimental to the team or the WAA.
    11. I will at all times treat teammates, coaches, opponents, umpires and league officials with respect and conduct myself in a sportsman like manner.

The WAA board of commissioners will have the authority to discipline any player, coach, umpire, parent/guardian or board member who has violated any of the above guidelines or whose conduct is considered detrimental to the best interests of the WAA. The WAA board of commissioners can discipline violations in one of the following actions depending on the severity of the matter:

    1. Warning: The offending person (parent/guardian for someone under 18) is advised of the nature of the offense and informed that further violations will result in a more severe penalty, or
    2. Probation: The offending person (parent/guardian for someone under 18) is given a written warning and enters a period of probation to be determined by the board of commissioners. Further violations will result in suspension or barring from further participation in the WAA, or
    3. Suspension: The offending person (parent/guardian for someone under 18) is
suspended from participating in WAA activities for a length of time to be determined by the WAA board of commissioners, or
    4. Bar: The offending person (parent/guardian for someone under 18) is barred from future participation in WAA activities to the end of the baseball season at a minimum. A violator can only be reinstated by approval of the WAA board of commissioners.

In addition to the above disciplinary options, any person ejected from a game is ineligible to return to the field for the next scheduled game of their team and any person ejected from a game twice in one season is automatically suspended from participating in any WAA sponsored activities until such time as they are reinstated by the WAA board of commissioners.

Any person subject to disciplinary action will be informed in writing of the board of commissioners’ review of their conduct and have the right to appear before the board of commissioners to explain their conduct before disciplinary action is imposed. The board of commissioners’ decision regarding disciplinary action will be communicated within seven days of the review.

No person subject to disciplinary action will be entitled to a refund of the registration fee, fund raising fee or any fee associated with a special event.
